Fragrance: • Fresh • Aromatic • Amber-Scented • Woodsy

Napoléon François Joseph Charles Bonaparte, Duke of Reichstadt (20 March 1811 – 22 July 1832) was the only son of Napoleon Bonaparte and his second wife, Marie Louise of Austria.  He was known from birth as "His Majesty the King of Rome".

Jean Rancé, son of François Rancé created and dedicated this scent to the son of Napoleon in 1811.  It was hoped that the young Prince could repeat the feats of his illustrious father.  This spirit is reflected in the bold intensity of this fragrance while still embracing the favored Mediterranean tones.  It is like walking in a forest through a gradually changing sequence of plants, flowers and wild herbs indigenous of the region.

This is a very masculine fragrance which appeals directly to the hearts of nature lovers.

A Note from Rance:

“The Rancé family played a decisive role during the last two centuries in bringing to perfection perfumery soaps.

The raw materials are top quality natural edible oils, chosen for their freshness and purity, at the doses laid down in the ancient Rancé formula. The technical improvements brought about over the years mainly regard the materials of the vessels and machines (now stainless steel and special alloys only) and the control methods used to ensure the highest quality.

The blend of oils is transformed into soap in large boilers. For several days the soap undergoes repeated purification and refining stages, whose progress is continuously checked by chemical tests. The skill of the master soap-maker is essential in order to obtain a high level of perfection.

On the sixth day, when absolute purity and the ideal characteristics have been achieved, the soap is taken from the boiler and dried.

After one week of rest the soap is mixed thoroughly with perfumes and the special ingredients (creams, cosmetic oils and plant extracts) that characterize the Rancé formula. The bars are moulded very precisely and slowly. The specialist staff pick out only the perfect bars: Rancé only is able to produce soap bars with such fine etching.

The bars are left to age for at least one month in a controlled temperature and humidity room. This gives the soap greater stability and uniformity, and helps the perfume develop its strength and harmony; it has also a crucial effect on quantity and quality of its creamy leather.

Rancé is a luxury perfume creator, so they use the very best fragrances in their soaps. Rancé soaps are considered the absolute TOP throughout the world for the exceptional quality and the fine intense perfumes.

Rancé soaps are still craftsman creations.”
